Sorry if this is terribly DnD, but it works, so humor me here. if you have suggestions or qualms with this system, feel free to post them.
Keep in mind that none of this has to be specifically stated, but should be the frame within which battle plays out, and is a system to keep people from doing too much in one post.
When battle is initiated in R:5, the combatants will be surrounded in a battle barrier that is inescapable save for with the use of smokescreen.
The player that initiated battle will then take their turn first, and the post order follows what the post order up to that point had been in the thread.
A round is the time it takes for each player to act.
During one's turn, they can perform two actions. Below are actions they can take. A turn is about 6 seconds of real time.
Move Action: Move around the battle area.
Attack Action: Attack an oponent. Can only attack once per turn, in order to supply reaction time.
Cast action: use an ability which consumes SP. Can only cast once per turn. Counts as an Attack action.
Dodge Action: Dodge an attack. Halves or nullifies damage.
Full Round Actions: Sometimes a skill or movement will take too long and will take up your entire Turn. These skills and abilities often have perks that make them worth it, and will say they are Full Round Actions.
That's a very dumbed-down Round based battle system that we can use. Like I said before, it sounds more complicated than it is. in reality, it helps people think realistically about the time it takes to act and react in a real-time battle situation.
